Kamenashi Kazuya
●Lately, I’m very energetic from the moment I wake up in the morning. I think good feelings come out in abundance. During times like this, I feel like I smile more everyday and can laugh at silly things. At home, watching ‘Haneru no Tobira (Haneru’s Door)’ on DVD after a long time, I had a hearty laugh, and at the workplace, I can laugh after seeing Koki’s hilarious power. Also, times when I bring my friends to a recommended shop. When they turn to me and say with a smile, “Delicious~!” Without thinking, I smile complacently and reply, “Isn’t it?” Concerning my approach, I’m happy when the other party responds with a smiling face. Not just family and friends, the smiling faces of fans at the instant my eyes meet theirs during live too. If I think about it, there are many times when I received a smile from someone.

●The beach. It’s the number one place that can make me smile now. Like, surfing or riding a good wave~. The feeling of a happy aura overflowing from my whole body. No, I’m really not good at it, I can rarely ride a good wave, you know? But how do I say this, instead of a wave that fits me, when everything falls into place…it feels really good! At that instant, I’m rewarded for all the hard work pedalling. I get to experience a great sense of achievement too. Ah, do you know? If you go to the beach, before you return, you must check below the car properly. Cats may sleep under the car. And, I’ll also plop to the ground and have a conversation with the cat at its eye level. Something like, “I’m going home already, please move aside” or “Sorry~”. It will reply with ‘u-nya~’ or something and not move away at all, but I can laugh as I’m distracted by its appearance and smile. I also find myself thinking things like if I had more time, my surfing will improve and I can make lots of fun memories. In fact, I’m busy at work and feel a sense of satisfaction when I concentrate fully. I can’t decide which is better. I probably finally noticed recently that both are necessary.

●Nowadays, every time I meet Taguchi, his hobbies change (laugh). Rather than changing, they’re increasing fast. I rarely meet him but I still know, for the most part, I’ll see him during shootings for the regular programs, won’t I? The things he brings to the filming location changes with great frequency. Even though I normally don’t pay attention to Taguchi, I know. Darts, cue (←the stick used in billiard), skateboard… Ah, during the ‘skateboard period’, and though he only moved 1 m at most, I mean like he’s still there!, he rode on each and every skateboard and I got irritated. And, now… (looking nearby at Taguchi who’s confirming his grip on a green onion that acts as a substitute for a club) it’s golf. Somehow it’s amazing. I don’t have anything like hobbies at all, and if I force one out, it’ll be something like movie appreciation. But, I’ll definitely not be envious of him (laugh).

●And, previously, I had my fill of my only hobby. I watched ‘Wanted’ at the cinema. Though I always wanted to watch it, when I finally watched it, there was a sense of speed and to the end there was a thrilling and palpitating sequence. There was nothing wrong with my judgement. Because I really like movies, I watch around 10 a month at my highest record. Basically, though they’re foreign films, I don’t consider the genre but watch those I think are interesting one after another. Among movie lovers, there are many who are particular about watching movies at the theatre as ‘the sound is better and the screen is bigger at the cinema…’, I don’t care about that. In fact, I watch DVDs at home more often. But I like the cinema. Because I can eat caramel popcorn (laugh). Generally, there are M, L and LL sizes, but it’s definitely L for me. Even if I’m alone, it’s L. And of course I finish it all! That said, I don’t eat popcorn usually. I wonder why the caramel popcorn I eat at cinemas are so delicious…

●I feel like I’m smiling 1/3 of the time I’m awake in a day. It’s not that I have a great policy of “If I’m going to live this 1 day anyway, I want to get through it smiling.” It’s because I only do things I like or are fun. You’ll be beaming naturally if you do. Like just now, “Wow, Koki, pink suits me”, “Wow, I haven’t had pizza in a long time. It’s super good”, grabbing a green onion in place of a golf club, swinging it and saying, “This is good”, for example… Somehow these trivial things are fun and they make me laugh. When required, no matter when, people should come in touch with people or things they like. Rather, I do this.

●Last autumn, the thing that made me laugh with great joy the most was winning a professional for the first time in an official billiard challenge. It was round 1 but I was happy. Without thinking, I was already patting myself on the back, saying, “I did well!” Now, thinking about it makes me enraptured (breaks into a smile). But in round 2, I was defeated and effortlessly withdrawn! (laugh) Of course it is so, they won’t go so easily on me… And I swore that ‘From tomorrow onwards, I’ll eat unajuu and work hard!!’ If I was hungry while practicing at the billiard parlor, I’ll order unajuu; it’s delicious. It’s so delicious that there are times when I feel like eating it and wonder why I’m not practicing my billiard. Doing only the things I like and eating tasty food. I think I’ll smile the happiest. Ya, definitely.

●Though I don’t really care, my hair grows long fast. I just cut it the other day and now my fringe is already going bobo [the sound of hair flopping?]… When I talk about that, everyone says, “Ah, Taguchi is dirty-minded” and laughs. This is being dirty-minded? Though I don’t see the correlation between the growth of hair and a dirty-minded personality, I think, “It’s interesting how everyone says the same thing” and smile without thinking. Before I realized it, I’m always smiling.

Tanaka Koki
●Now, making music is the most fun. The other day, I went to Slipknot’s live and that was just super cool. And told myself with such enthusiasm, “I won’t lose! I’ll make cool music and definitely get an offer from Taiban. Moreover, just when you come, I’ll reject you!!” and I made 4 songs in 1 week. 3 rock pieces and 1 hip-hop. To the professionals it may seem harsh but I use the PC [personal computer] super efficiently to make them. Ah, talking about PCs, 3 days after I bought it, a new model came out from the same manufacturer!! After I saw the news hailing my second newest PC as ‘the latest model on sale now!’, I blurted out, ‘Hmm?’ at first without thinking (laugh). When I was buying the PC from the electrical appliance store, if only the salesperson said, “Sir, If you wait for another 3 days, a new model will come out~”~. They definitely know it? In other words, it’s completely their way of clearing their stock, isn’t it!? They’re totally making sport of people. Because I was angry, I bought 1 new one. I’m playing right into their hands (laugh).

●Lately what makes me happy is that Sakura (dog) finally remembers about the toilet. On top of that, not just remembering, it folds the sheet for toilet use neatly after peeing! As it’s fastidious, it doesn’t want to pee at the same place after doing it the first time. Now, we let it loose in the living room out of its cage, and I’ve witnessed it many times while on the way to get some drinks from the refrigerator; it wasn’t just a coincidence!! No~, to Sakura who has trouble remembering ‘down’, on the contrary, well done to me for training it to walk on 2 hinds (laugh)! Because of intensive training, now it can stand still at a place for around 10 seconds, if it’s 2 or 3 steps it can also walk. It can walk on 2 hinds, fold things properly; it’s already a complete human…

Ueda Tatsuya
●For my last birthday, my friends threw me a surprise party… I was told, “Come to this store at O p.m.” And after I entered the store, it was pitch black all of a sudden! ♪ Happy Birthday~ was flowing from within… Around 70 people celebrated for me grandly. I was happy~. I naturally break into smiles while talking to everyone. It was a time of laughter and chatting after a long time.

●In a day, if you talk about the time I’m overflowing with smiles unconditionally, it’s mealtime ♪ Having a meal is the happiest. No, I feel blessed from the moment I mix my fermented soybeans. Also, animals. Although I think smiling to everyone is a forte, part of my job, animals… I’m really defenseless in front of dogs, especially. Caressing it, showering it with kisses, it’s like I miss without realizing it at all myself.

●Although I love watching comedies on TV, I’m bad at making people laugh. I’m super troubled when I’m told to mimic someone as punishment for a game on TV. I think, “I don’t have any material; I gotta think of something soon.” I think when I’m with my friends we’re quite high. Suddenly in the middle of conversation there’ll be shouts of ‘1 nyokki! No, no, everyone gets excited with this kind of simple game.

●I smile when I’m in a good mood and, when I’m in a bad mood I can’t help feeling angry no matter what I do. I constantly say please don’t try to make me laugh. But, I basically like people who try to make me feel better when I’m in a bad mood. Saying, “What’s wrong today?”; it’s sweet that they noticed~. And, having them listen to me makes me smile. After all, I’m the type who can’t live alone no matter what I may say. But from me… what is it? On the contrary, if you say, “Why are you in a bad mood?”, I lose my cool… Ha ha (laugh).

Nakamaru Yuichi
●Not long ago, I went to the large warehouse-style store in my shiny new car that just came. Anyway it was huge. The shop, the shopping carts and even the merchandise is super huge! The moment I stepped into the store, it’s like ‘woah, it’s fun!’ and the tension rises. The bagels are sold in packets of 24 and the persimmons roughly in crates. The cereals are larger than the screen of a computer, and a pack of meat is how many kg!? per pack, meaning that, no matter where, an exciting world is unfolding. While shopping, I, already smiling, said, “Hey hey, what are we gonna do with so many supplies? Wahaha.” And after reaching home, putting all the large quantity of foodstuff in the refrigerator was fun again. For a short time after, every time I see the refrigerator that creaks due to the food, I give a self-satisfied smile. But you know, from that day on, the Nakamaru household’s meals are bagels everyday, meat everyday, persimmons everyday! Sometimes cereal! Even after eating and eating, it’s bagels, meat, and persimmons! The cereals are not decreasing… Thankfully I pared the persimmons with a peeler; so I did well. I’m a master of persimmon-paring.

Like a conditioned reflex, with a 100% probability, I smile after I chuu. When I say, “chuu♪” to Mister (pet dog: a miniature dachshund), and pout, I get a chuu. New trick, new trick. Somehow, I will be healed. I say, “You like me so much, I see, I see,” and become cute. The times when I often get dispirited or tired, after being ‘chuu-ed’, I can feel all warm and fuzzy. But when people see it, they say things like, “That’s forcing it… You’re getting a chuu by coercion.” Well, if you put it that way, that’s actually so (laugh). How do I say it, it’s like after I smile tears fall? It’s called pathos? After saying, “I like the laughter induced easily from Surrealism…”, I burst out laughing at Koki’s joke about shit, and hide the tinge of sorrow with my smile!
